ERROR 404: File not found

Foreword: The following is a broadcast made by the channel "BBC News" shortly after the beginning of the SCP-4800 event. Broadcast was intercepted shortly after its beginning by Foundation monitoring bots; however, it is estimated that 8 million civilians saw this portion of the broadcast.

<Begin Log>

The intro animation for BBC News plays. After the intro is over, two news anchors (Robert Traskton and Shelly Ferdinand) are shown sitting at a desk.

Traskton: Good... evening, I'm, I am, Robert Traskton, and we at BBC News have some, um, very urgent news!

Ferdinand: That's right. All over the world, people are reporting that the sky has prematurely turned to night. In addition, several people have reported a loss of access to satellite television, phone lines, and the internet.

Traskton: Yeah, we got into contact with an astronomer who can tell us who's happening, I mean, what's happening. Let's go to astronomer, uh, Jerry Sprinkler, and our interviewer!

Scene cuts to an observatory. Interviewer Tracy Skullard is talking to Jerry Sprinkler

Skullard: What can you tell us, about, well, what's happening out there?

Sprinkler: As far as we can tell, the Sun's light stopped reaching us, for lack of a better word. For reasons we really haven't gotten to the botom of yet, the heat's still coming, we're still alive, but light isn't going into Earth's atmosphere, and it isn't coming out.

Skullard: Is that why the stars are gone?

Sprinkler: Yes, and it's also why the internet's down. We can't get to the satellites because they're outside of Earth's atmosphere. I assume you're using a landline to call back to HQ? The only exception to this, it seems, is a recurring radio signal that just says the same-

ERIS.AIC detects classified information in the broadcast and interrupts it.

Foreword: The following is a log of all phenomena that has occurred over the course of the ongoing SCP-4800 event, observed by the Foundation. Due to the current constraints on light in vacuum spaces, observation of phenomena beyond Earth has become very difficult.

Date: 04/05/2016

Description: At 0817 hours UTC, the sky suddenly and without warning turns to black. All extraterrestrial objects, including stars, other planets, the Sun, and non-geocentric satellites become invisible.

Notes: Declared the beginning of an SCP-4800 event.

Date: 04/06/2016

Description: Global failures of all devices connected to the Internet. Presumed to be due to interference with satellites crucial for the Internet to function.

Notes: N/A

Date: 11/12/2016

Description: A meteor crashes to Earth, causing high levels of damage in Lower Manhattan. The World Trade Center is destroyed as a result.

Notes: N/A

Date: 05/12/2017

Description: Primarily due to a lack of communication between world governments and the civilian populace about the SCP-4800 event, riots begin to occur worldwide. In most areas, government control is held.

Notes: The Foundation is to withdraw their presence from the nation formerly known as Russia.

Date: 08/10/2017

Description: , a large is identified at the center of the Milky Way galaxy.

Notes: Phenomenon is classified as SCP-4800-1.

Date: 01/20/2018

Description: Rioters in the eastern United States begin to form an uprising known as "The Apple Movement." They are observed to develop high-grade cellular technology for use in their riots.

Notes: Sites -13 and -22 are considered lost to the Apple Movement.

Date: 12/09/2018

Description: becomes common.

Notes: MTF Omega-12 ("Achilles Heel") is deployed to assist in the containment of new anomalies formed by this phenomenon.

Date: 09/08/2019

Description: The area surrounding SCP-4800-1 is noted to have a Hume level of absolute 0, causing the dissolution of local matter in its radius. This field is gradually increasing in radius.

Notes: N/A

Date: 01/01/2020

Description: SCP-4800-1 begins to produce a radio signal that, despite the limitations of light, manages to reach the Earth. Signal consists of a series of dots and dashes.

Notes: Analysis ongoing by the Cryptography department.

Foreword: A signal consisting of a repeating sequence of Morse dots and dashes has been detected across Earth (see Document 4800-EL3 for more information). The following is a recording and a translation of this sequence.

Sequence: ....-...............-.....-....-.....-.......-..--....-...............-....-........-..--....-.............-.....-....-....-.........-....-.............-..--.....-.........-....-.-....-...-..--....-..............-....-...............-....-.....-....-...-....-..............-.....-..-..-.............-..--.....-....-..--....-.........-....-........-..--.....-...-.....-...-....-.........-....-.-..--..--....-..............-.....-.....-....-.-....-...............-.....-....-....-.-....-.............-....-.....-.....-....-..--....-....-....-.....-....-.............-.....-...-.....-...-....-.......-....-.-..--....-.....-.....-..-....-..-....-.-....-...............-....-...-....-....-.....-...-....-.-..--.....-....-.....-.........-....-..-.....-....-..--....-.....-....-........-.....-...-..--.....--....-...-....-......-..--.....-.....-....-...............-....-....-....-..............-.....-....-....-.-....-...............-....-.........-..--....-..............-....-..............-.....-.....-.....-......-....-.........-.....-..-....-.....-....-.....-.....-...-...-..-..--...--......-.-...-........-......-.....-...-.-......-.-...-.........-...-..-..--......-..-....-...-.....-...-....-.-.....-..-.....-....-....-..............-....-..............-....-...............-.....-..-..--....-.-....-.....-....-.........-....-............-.....-.........-.....-....-....-.-..--....-...-....-..............-....-...............-....-........-..--.....-..-..--..-.............-....-......-....-.........-.....-.........-..--.....-.....-....-...............-....-.-..--....-.....-.....-..-.....-..-..--....-...-....-.....-....-.........-....-.....-....-.........-.....-......-....-.......-....-..............-.....-....-..--....-.........-....-........-..--.....-...-....-.....-....-.............-.....-...-.....-...-....-.......-....-.-..--....-.....-....-........-.....-....-.....-...-....-.........-.....-.....-..--....-.........-....-..............-....-.....-.....-......-.....-...-.....-..-..--....-.....-.....-...-....-.........-....-.........-..--..--....-..............-....-.-....-....-....-.......-....-..............-.....-..-....-.....-..-.............-..--.....--..--....-.....-....-............-.....-...-....-.-..--....-.....-.....-......-....-.....-....-...-....-.-....-.-.....-.....-....-.....-.....-....-....-.-..--..--.....-...-....-.-....-......-.....-....-.....-...-....-.-..--..--.....-...-....-...............-.....--.....-...-.....-...-....-..-....-.........-....-.....-....-............-.....-....-..--..--....-...............-....-...............-....-............-....-.....-.....-.......-..--.....-..-....-........-....-...-....-..............-....-.-....-.....-....-...-....-...............-..--..--....-......-....-...............-....-...-....-............-....-............-.....--....-.-....-.-.....-...-....-.........-.....-....-....-..............-....-...............-....-.....-..--....-.....-.....-......-.....-....-....-..............-..-.............-..--.....-....-..--....-.-....-........-....-...........-....-..............-.....-.........-..--.....-.....-....-...............-..-.............-..--.....-....-..--....-.-....-.....-..--....-.............-....-.-....-...-..-.............-...-...-...-.....-....-...............----..........-

Closing Statement: It is believed that the above sequence may be encoded in a yet-unrecognizable form of Morse code. Translation efforts by the Cryptography department are ongoing.

5/29/2020

I've been staring at this damned sequence for hours now. This could be the thing that gets us out of this mess. This could be the key to SCP-4800. We might even be able to harness it. Yet, I can't even begin to crack it.

It could be morse, but I've heard the signal myself. It keeps coming and going in long bursts with no pauses. We might be missing some pauses, but I've tried every combination and it just comes out as alphabet soup. I've tried everything else, but nothing's coming out.

I need to sleep on this, or I might go insane.

5/30/2020

Another fruitless day of staring at that code. I've memorized it; I see it whenever I close my eyes. Nothing's coming out of it.

The dissolution field is starting to approach Earth. We have to hurry before it evaporates us. Everybody at the site in panicking. I never thought I'd see Calvin have a nervous breakdown, but here I am.

I've taped a printout of the code above my bed, and I spent most of the day looking at it. Why won't it work? Why can't I figure out what's going on?

6/02/2020

Code still not broken. I've talked with the others in Cryptography, and there's still no dice.

I keep forgetting the email system is down. Makes communication a lot harder.

Come on, brain. Don't fail me now.

6/12/2020

I had an epiphany today. This definitely isn't morse code, but what if it isn't a code? I turned it sideways, and it looks more like sets of dots seperated by dashed to me. It's not conveying letters, it's conveying numbers.

With that break in the case, I was riding on that high all day while I was decoding it. Yes, it's a bunch of numbers. It looks like there's a pattern too, but I can't see it yet.

I tried to send it to the rest of Cryptography, but the email's still broken. I'll talk to them when I get to work today.

6/13/2020

None of the numbers go over 16. I might be onto something here.
